I was tagged to do this by one of my favorite people, Aaryn, on her booktube Just Aaryn. You should definitely go check out her channel because she’s the human equivalent of a ray of sunshine. The questions for this tag took a LOT of thought, so without further ado, let’s get into the tag!
♛ Categories ♛
1. Pick a town name using 5 different words from 5 books on your bookshelf.
The – using The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien
City – using City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
of – using Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
Legendary – using Legendary by Stephanie Garber
Dreams – using Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor
2. Create a family using book characters.
For this one I wanted to use characters from several different series, so I just ignored all canon relationships for the purposes of this tag.
I chose Julian Blackthorn (The Dark Artifices) and Hanna Donnelly (The Illuminae Files) as the parents. And the children are August Flynn (Monsters of Verity) and Blue Sargent (The Raven Cycle).
We all know that Julian is a great father figure to his younger siblings, and Hanna is pretty similar to his actual love interest so I feel like they could get along well in a relationship. I picked August because he’s a sweetie that deserves the love they’d give him, and Blue because she’s amazing and would make any magical town a lot more magical.
3. Choose a bookish universe to use as your town’s setting.
I love all of the universes in my fantasy series, but they’re actually pretty dark and I don’t want things to be too dangerous for my town. So I ended up choosing the Narnia universe (after Aslan came back) as my town’s setting because it’s really amazing without all of the scary aspects to it. Talking animals? Sign me up.
4. Pick a town mayor.
Honestly is there any other option for this besides Alec Lightwood from The Shadowhunter Chronicles? I’d wholeheartedly trust him to run my town.
5. Pick a town sheriff.
For my town sheriff I decided to pick Derek Gaunt from the Kate Daniels series. He’s very good at detective/investigative work, he’s a werewolf, he’s loyal and protective, and he’s good in a fight. So Derek is definitely the perfect fit for my town. Plus I love him, so..
6. Pick a high school principal.
I have absolutely NO IDEA why I chose Kell Maresh from the Shades of Magic series for this position, but I did. Are any high school principals ever actually qualified for their jobs?
7. Choose someone to run the local bar.
Jac Mardlin from The Shadow Game series is another fave of mine and I just think he’d be perfect for this job. He has a strength talent and loves boxing, so he’d definitely be able to deal with any out of hand customers. But Jac is also a total softie so he’d be that bartender that listens to everyone’s problems and I’m here for that.
8. Pick a town doctor.
Zila Madran from Aurora Rising would be the perfect doctor for my town. Her IQ is off the charts, and while she may be a bit mysterious, she definitely knows what she’s doing.
9. Choose a town rebel.
Ronan Lynch from The Raven Cycle. Duh. He’s one of my favorite characters of all time AND is probably the most iconic “rebel” in YA. Him gracing my town’s streets with his very presence would be a miracle. Plus I’m also down for him street racing and just causing all sorts of havoc with Chainsaw.
10. Pick a town villain.
I saw that some people were picking “not so villainous” villains, but you know what? Go big or go home. So I’m picking the most terrifying villain I can think of, which is Phobia from the Renegades series. He can’t be killed and I’m not even sure if he’s actually a person? But he seems to know everyone’s worst fears and can transform into them, so, yeah. He’s scary.
11. Choose the town’s rising star.
For this one I’m choosing my baby Jules Milone from the Three Dark Crowns series. She is such a powerful baddie and she has a pet freaking cougar. Everyone would definitely want to be on her level so she’d be a huge star.
12. Choose 2 bookish landmarks to be placed within your town.
This was a hard question to answer because everything I thought of was an actual place rather than a landmark. So I ended up choosing Cabeswater, also from The Raven Cycle, because it’s magical and the trees speak latin. So why not? And then I chose The Shrieking Shack from Harry Potter because it’s literally the only thing that I could think of.
I’m tagging Debora ♛ Rose ♛ Trea ♛ and anyone else that would like to do this tag!
This was a really fun tag, and it took a lot longer to answer these questions than I thought it would. Thank you so much to Aaryn for tagging me, you’re a sweetie!
What did you think about my answers? Let’s discuss!
