Happy July everyone! My birthday was on June 30th so ya girl is now officially 20 years old! Along with that exciting news, this was also my most successful reading month of the whole year so far! I read a total of 13 things and 4,203 pages. As you can tell, I have a lot of things to talk about, so let’s get into it!

I Hate Fairyland Vol. 1: Madly Ever After

I think that this is my favorite graphic novel I’ve ever read. The story and dialogue were freaking hilarious and I enjoyed every second of it. As far as art and coloring goes, I tend to be very picky, but I loved this. The art style itself added even more humor to the story. And everything was so brightly colored and gory which was perfect. I would highly recommend this one!

I Hate Fairyland Vol. 2: Fluff My Life

This was just as artsy, colorful, and gory as the first volume and I enjoyed every second of it. Gert, Larry, and the rest of the characters were still great. The plot itself was somewhat lacking, which is the only reason while it’s getting 4 stars instead of 5.

Yes technically this is an 84 page novella, but I’m really mad that this was removed from goodreads because I’d written a review for it and now it’s just gone. Ugh. Basically I didn’t care at all about any of the new characters or plot, but it was worth it just to see AIDAN, Ezra, McNulty, and McCall before the events of Illuminae.
Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han

I didn’t expect to enjoy this one as much as I did, but it was admittedly cute. I loved how the characters were struggling and trying to grow into being ready for college. And I finally liked Peter in this one. I wish all the movies were out right now so I could watch them!

This was a reread and I loved it just as much as the first time around. I didn’t realize just how much I missed these characters and their crazy heists. But it’s definitely still one of my all-time favorite books.

Everything about this was so entertaining and magical. But what really made this shine is the artwork and the coloring. Jen Bartel truly is the best in the business. I’d picked this up on a whim because I’m a fan of her art and I’m so glad that I did. I’ve never seen visuals this captivating in a graphic novel before. And I’m already really invested in all of these characters so I look forward to more issues!

I’m so sad I didn’t get to continue with my reread of SoC but I wasn’t in the mood to finish it 🙁

OK, reading this post made me go out and get I Hate Fairyland and I’m loving the colors and different areas of fairyland, amused by the protagonist and also a little grossed out by all the gore. Haha it’s great! Also, HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY! Oh, to be 20 again 🙂 This is a great wrap up!
