I was looking for a tag to do and when I stumbled upon this one, I just couldn’t resist. Who doesn’t love Johnny Depp? This was originally created by ThePerksOfBooks over on her YouTube. Now let’s get into it, shall we?
♛ Glen {Nightmare on Elm Street}: What author’s book did you enjoy so much you read their entire work? ♛
So reading author’s that have massive numbers of books is way too intimidating to me, so I’m gonna be a cheat and pick Amanda Foody for this one! Yes she’s only written 3 books, but hey, at least I’ve read all of them.
♛ The Mad Hatter {Alice in Wonderland}: Have I gone mad? I’m afraid so. Name a delightfully insane character. ♛
For this one, I of course had to choose The Puppeteer from the Renegades series. He had marionette-ish makeup that was permanently on his face, he’s a little cuckoo, and he can literally turn people into human puppets. An iconic lunatic.
♛ Wade Walker {Cry-Baby}: What book features a bad boy with a heart of gold? ♛
I had to get some help on this one from my group chat, but we ended up coming up with three solid answers. I know ALWAYS talk about Jace and Ronan so for this one I picked Carswell Thorne from Cress. I’d lowkey forgotten that he existed but he’s totally a bad boy with a heart of gold.
♛ Sam {Benny & Joon}: What book helped you get through a hard time? ♛
I’m going to be honest, there’s never really been a book that helped me get through a hard time. My bouts of depression and anxiety in the past were always when I wasn’t reading. So I just picked a random book that I read when I was younger and that’s Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira. I hated it, but I still think it was a beautiful concept and I can see how it might help others.
♛ Willy Wonka {Charlie & the Chocolate Factory}: A book retelling that didn’t quite meet your expectations? ♛
Yellow Brick War by Danielle Page. It was the third book in a series that was a retelling of Oz. I’d fairly enjoyed the previous two novels but that one was just trash. I never even finished the series.
♛ Edward {Edward Scissorhands}: Misunderstood. Recommend a book that you feel does not get the love it deserves. ♛
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Vengeance Road by Erin Bowman deserves more love!!!
♛ Ichabod Crane {Sleepy Hollow}: What is your favorite classic horror story? ♛
So I’ve technically never read the book (I know I’m horrible) and using the prompt as my answer is kind of wack lol, but The Legend of Sleepy Hollow has always been my fave classic horror story. I’ve loved the movie since I was a really little kid.
♛ Gilbert Grape {What’s Eating Gilbert Grape}: A book where sadness and beauty play equal parts. ♛
There were definitely a few options for this one, but what first came to my mind was Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare.
♛ Victor Van Dort {Corpse Bride}: A book you’d like to see made into a stop motion film. ♛
I’m dumb so I had to google “stop motion film” before I realized that I already knew what it means lol. I tend to like spookier stories for movies like this, so this was hard. All I could think of was Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi. I think it would be interesting to see the darker aspects of the story come to life on screen.
♛ Sweeney Todd {Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street}: A book with a concept you wouldn’t think would work, but it pulls off. ♛
Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn fits the bill for this one perfectly! It’s an epistolary, but the girl who’s writing lives in a society where they’ve begun banning certain letters of the alphabet. So her writing starts getting more and more frantic and reminiscent of “text talk”. It’s pretty funny and light-hearted and I really enjoyed it.
♛ Ed {Ed Wood}: A book that is terrible but you enjoyed it anyways. ♛
Y’all are gonna attack me for this one but Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi is my answer. Like I know that it was trash but I enjoyed it. If I ever re-read it though I just know that I wouldn’t like it anymore lol.
♛ Captain Jack Sparrow {Pirates of the Caribbean}: The greatest book character ever OR a book featuring your favorite quotes. ♛
What’s so funny about this is that I’ve actually been listening to one of the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtracks while doing this tag. But I genuinely can’t pick a SINGLE person for greatest character. It’s too hard! (I could make pick a top 5) So I’m going to use The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater because it has my favorite opening and ending lines.
“It is the first day of November and so, today, someone will die.” Now THAT is an opening line folks.
“He is slow, and the sea sings to us both, but he returns to me.” This one won’t make much sense unless you’ve read the book, but my heart is still not over this line and it never will be.
And that’s the tag lovelies! This was extremely fun to do and I’m honestly really sad that it didn’t have more characters & prompts. Now I’m going to tag these people and ANYONE ELSE THAT WANTS TO DO IT!
