Hi lovelies! It’s so crazy that we’re halfway through the year already, but I’ve been really looking forward to this post. So far this year I’ve read 38 books, so I’m already 67% done with my reading challenge for the year! This is pretty good for me but I’m hoping to read a lot more the last half of the year. Now let’s get into the questions cause I”m really excited for them!
♛ Best book you’ve read so far in 2019? ♛
This probably comes as no surprise, but this has definitely been my favorite book of the entire year so far. I plan on rereading it sometime in the next couple of months before the last book comes out!
♛ Best sequel of 2019 so far? ♛
So technically The Wicked King was the best sequel I’ve read this year, but I didn’t want to re-use answers. Gathering Darkness was amazing and I was living for every second of it. I’m desperately waiting on the rest of the series to ship to my house so I can continue my binge.
♛ New release you haven’t read yet, but want to? ♛
There’s been a lot of new releases this year that I want to get to, but haven’t had the time to yet. But Priory is what I’m both most looking forward to and most scared of. The cover is freaking stunning and all I know is that it’s a standalone fantasy with dragons, which is why I’m super excited for it. But I’m also scared to read it because it’s sooo big. I plan to read it for a readathon next month so we’ll see how it goes! Fingers crossed.
♛ Most anticipated release for the second half of 2019? ♛
There are literally so many releases that I’m excited for in the last half of the year that I plan to make a whole separate post about it.
♛ Biggest disappointment? ♛
I read this with the Dragons & Tea Book Club a couple of months ago and I had really high hopes for it! I mean a story about characters who get magic powers from mixing cocktails? Sounds amazing. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. I don’t think a single person in the entire book club enjoyed it lol.
♛ Biggest surprise? ♛
A friend of mine randomly recommended to me, and I decided to give it a shot without knowing anything about it. It ended up being extremely complex, but phenomenal and I’m so glad I took a chance on it!
♛ Favorite new author (debut or new to you)? ♛
Morgan Rhodes! As I mentioned, I’ve been binge-reading the Falling Kingdoms series the past couple of weeks and I’m just loving the world and characters she’s created so much.
♛ Newest fictional crush? ♛
My newest fictional crush of 2019 is Kal Gilwraeth from Aurora Rising. He’s got that whole misunderstood vibe going on, and even though he can kick some serious butt, he’s so sweet with his mate and it just melts my heart.
♛ Newest favorite character? ♛
Princess Cleo Bellos from the Falling Kingdoms series is my new favorite! She’s such a strong female protagonist, but for once, it’s not in a physical way. She can’t fight or wield a sword. But she’s so mentally strong and willing to fight for what she believes in and it’s so empowering. I freaking love her. But there’s hardly any art for this series and it HURTS ME.
♛ Book that made you cry? ♛
Well, your girl doesn’t cry. I’m basically heartless. But the closest I came to crying this year was several times in Hero at the Fall when my eyes got a little watery but no tears fell!!! I’m determined to keep up my no crying streak. But this was such a beautiful ending to the Rebel of the Sands trilogy albeit extremely heart-wrenching. Also, yes I unashamedly order the stunning U.K. covers because the U.S. ones are trash and this way my whole set actually matches.
♛ Book that made you happy? ♛
I squealed like a lunatic while reading this because the enemies to lovers romance just made me super excited. I’ll admit it was super predictable but I couldn’t help but love it.
♛ Favorite book to movie/tv adaptation that you saw this year? ♛
I know I’m really late to the party on this one, but I just read the trilogy and watched this movie with a couple of friends recently. I absolutely loved every second of this movie and the cast was so perfect for what I had the characters pictured as in my head. I can’t wait until the next one comes out!
♛ Favorite review you’ve written this year? ♛
I don’t know why but I’m really proud of my Furyborn review that I wrote a few days ago! It’s a bit negative, but idk. I just loved the aesthetics I made and the quotes I used. Feel free to check it out (:
♛ Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received)? ♛
I picked two for this one because both of the covers were designed by the wonderfully talented Charlie Bowater and they are GORGEOUS.
♛ What books do you need to read by the end of the year? ♛
SO MANY. I have a gigantic TBR pile sitting on my floor and making me feel shameful. And there’s so many good things coming out later this year! But for some reason I really reallyy wanna start the Air Awakens series before the year is up! I’ve been itching to get to it ASAP.
♛
I still can’t believe that the year is halfway over. But this was so fun to do and to see all of my reading progress for 2019!
All of my sunshine girls and anyone who wants to do this! (seriously do it, I wasn’t tagged but I did it anyway)
What did you think of my answers? Have you done this tag? If so feel free to comment a link! I’d love to know everyone else’s answers to the questions. And how is your 2019 reading progress going? Let’s discuss!

Kal ♥ I love elves and he’s so amazing! I can’t wait to see his relationship with Auri develop..
I really need to read “Falling Kingdoms”, I keep bumping into great reviews and it seems such an interesting series; I can’t wait to start it honestly.
Oh, and then I couldn’t recommend enough “The Priory of the Orange Tree”; I was so intimidated at first, I mean, it’s a huge volume. But the story is flawless entertaining and epic, never boring or slow in my opinion.
And what can I say about “Hero at the Fall”…I wept all my tears!!! Such a good ending though!

Same here! I’m already so invested in their relationship lol so I’m excited to see how things develop.
Falling Kingdoms is definitely really interesting! It’s not as intense and complex of a world as I was expecting, but I’ve just really fallen for all of the characters.
Okay now you have me super excited for Priory 😍 I can’t wait to start it next month.
Lol right? It was so sad but so good.

I know, right? But I haven’t heard a single bad thing about it so I’m really excited. I’ve been meaning to start it for the past two months but my physical TBR just keeps growing lol. If you were up for it, maybe we could do a buddy read? (:
